Barça bid €25 million for David Luiz!

Barcelona was on the hunt for a centre back until Tata Martino arrived and decided to call off the search. Before that, it tried to sign David Luiz, although not everyone agreed on the player, and offered Chelsea the sum of €25 million.

The London club did not even consider bid, given that it was not remotely close to its valuation of the player. Chelsea paid precisely that amount to Benfica and believes that the Brazilian's worth has risen after proving himself as a regular starter with Chelsea and in the Brazilian national team. Chelsea was looking for €40 million.

In any case, David Luiz is off the table now after the new 'Azulgrana' manager decided not to draft in any reinforcements. Toni Freixa, the spokesman for the board, assured that there will be no signings: "The squad is closed."
